Your ideas could have been resourceful ideas had you presented in a timely manner for him to embrace. But what did you do with them? Exactly what you’re suggesting he did! Nothing till after the fact. Which suggests to me your source of inspiration came from the same Cory Booker and the Canadian PM. So there’s that for starters. Secondly, his role is different to the Canadian PM. They each did their part. No need to discredit either but instead applaud them both. Cory Booker is but one of over 100 senators. Enough individuals to continue the work and incorporate your ideas. Did you write any with your suggestions? Well there’s another opportunity. Cory has increased awareness and demanded attention by literally, physically taking a stance, in addition to providing records which have to be noted of a history at risk of being erased in writing. There’s much more in what he did for those willing to perceive. Kudos to Senator Cory Booker for shining a light and doing the leg work!
Corey doesn't call me for input on his strategy, but perhaps he will at some point. But I hadn't thought about the different role he plays compared to the PM of Canada...Interesting. But in one week, let's see what has changed. I said, and I meant it that nothing would make me happier than to be wrong. We are on the same page on that. cm
All correct. But who said there had to be just one filibuster? Let's distill your article, send it to our representatives and ask for more fillibusters. Every act of defiance takes guts, and I applaud Booker but also believe we could demand that others continue what he started. I will write to my Congresspeople today.
At the same time, we have to get into the streets and show how we feel. This Saturday, April 5, 2025, is the "Hands Off! National Day of Action" to stand up against those who believe they can take whatever they want—our democracy, future, and rights. Google it to see where it is taking place in your city. Then get out there.
Where is the red line? It may not always be where you think it will be. It was drawn yesterday by new parents and parent-adjacent Congressional representatives who wanted remote voting. Nine elected officials shut down Johnson's Congress because they could not make Congressional votes from home after the birth of a child!
We don't know what the red lines will be for these Republicans. Supposedly, they are getting threats from the Jan 6th goons and their sympathizers that Trump let out of jail. They whisper they are afraid for their families. They care more about getting re-elected than they do our rights. But now those who will re-elect them are turning on them. Pressure is mounting, but it has not yet been enough.
Everything anyone does right now will not feel like enough because we are each one person standing on the edge of the giant sinkhole that is our government. But if each of us continues to act and surround the sinkhole, it will become, at one point, a mere ditch. There is no time to waste.
I hadn't thought about that. And, to be honest, I hadn't thought about what should have been done until later in the evening when I felt inspired without any to dos to add to my life. Look, we are all on the same page, hoping for some change in momentum. From your lips... and I hope you are still writing. cm
I agree; it’s a great start. Maybe there will be a follow up incorporating your great ideas. I would love to hear the speech incorporating your ideas!
Brilliant!!!
You’re not wrong. Excellent.

See you in the streets!
